Default 07 and Stage 1

Hey guys,

I know this is probably beating a dead horse but I have a few questions. My 07 STI has 19k miles on it, stock tune. Everything appears to be operating fine. I am definitely considering getting an AP and going stage 1. Before this I will need to get a compression and leak down test. Once I verify that the results are healthy and normal I will flash to stage 1.

One thing I am apprehensive about is if an engine problem occurs after I've flashed to stage 1. Will I be able to have engine work done under warranty? I am kind of leaning towards waiting for the warranty to expire before I do any sort of power mods. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

-Ryan

if u just go stage 1 with cobb ap u will be fine, u can just unmarry the ap from the ecu if u need to take it in for warranty issues. at those miles and being 1st owner, u shouldnt need a leak down or compression test

Do the compression/leakdown and bring it straight to the dealer if the findings are poor. Then, mod away.

What kind of results/numbers should I expect from the compression and leakdown test? Also, what kind of shops could do this test, besides a subaru dealer? Thanks guys.

So what do compression and leak down tests do? How expensive are they?

And why wouldn't he need it at 19k is he was the first owner of the car? Are we assuming it was beat on for 19k miles by the previous owner?

If you have been the only owner, there is a cheaper route you could take. Take the car to a dyno meet and see what numbers you get. Engines with problems don't get the normal numbers and a tuner would let you know.

Personally, I agree that you should just buy the AP and not worry about testing it.
