Lightbulb Poorman's Launch Control Idea!!

so ive been going back and forth from the Cobb ap to opensource so i havent even made up my mind but thats besides the fact. one of the main advantages of the AP is launch control huge plus. so ive been reading alot and have been looking at the gizzmo system but they make u buy the shift light and all that. also looked at msd and their 2 step.

well so i came across this RPM activated switch made by MSD. so my thought is maybe i can use this so when i reach a certain RPM it will cut ignition but once it drops below the set rpm it will engage it. so the way this would work is with the factory cruise control clutch switch.

also i just realized what if the car is moving and you dont want that rpm limit so low when you are switching gears at higher rpm. so i guess that part needs to be figured out and also where to cut ignition. (maybe Fuse box or ECU) was thinking about the ignition key but that would cut fuel and spark.

please give me some feedback or advice. Thanks in advance!

here is the wires and their purpose:

Red Connects to a switched 12 volt source.
Black Connects to ground.
White The rpm input wire. With an MSD Ignition, this connects to the Tach Output terminal.
On inductive ignitions, it connects to the coil negative terminal.
Yellow This is an activation wire and is Normally Open and will switch to ground. It connects
to the ground side of the device you plan to activate.
Gray This is an activation wire and is Normally Closed to ground. It will open the ground
path of a circuit.

If you look hard enough on the romraider and on osecu there are one or two LC patches. Also I think that XPT also has a LC patch for the 32-bit ECU's now, but if you are willing to pay for either this MSD product or the Gizzmo product then you should be just as willing to pay for a XPT LC patch.

Taking driver involvement out is not the direction you should be heading...

It's like getting an automatic.

Exactly, every proffesional rally team should ditch everything they are doing right now so the driver can be more involved.

Professional rallying isnt for fun. They do it for the money. We drive for fun.

So, you're saying that this guy would be having the wrong kind of fun?
Or are you concerned that he is going to be having fun incorrectly?

To the OP:
I was hoping that someone who has used ignition-cut rev limiting would chime in, but it's been a couple days with no response from someone who knows... So I'll offer some speculation:

I'm kinda suspicious of limiting revs via ignition cut. The raw fuel will blow through the exhaust and possibly ignite later. If you want anti-lag, this could be good, but if you want your turbo to last, it could be bad. Or you could be fine, but it seems to me that you'd be taking a gamble. Were I you, I wouldn't want to be the guinea pig for this approach.

Ignition cut launch control will knock your IAM down to 0 and kick the ECU over to the high-det fuel maps the first time you use it.

I dont care what anybody says. The more technology you allow to drive for you, the less you can claim any kind of props.

I wouldn't consider launch control, anti lag, flat foot shifting, or even f1 style transmisions as taking the driver out of the equation.

Piece by piece, that's exactly what is happening.

Take the new Evo for instance. Breakthroughs in computer controlled vehicle stabilization has taken away some need for skill. Going from a stick, to paddles, or worse yet, an auto that's "better than you could ever possibly do yourself" take away some need for skill.

Before long, it'll seem like everybody is an expert. Because nobody will be required to have very much skill to succeed.

I guess I'm just an old school guy. I would prefer technology to be very limited, and skill to rule.
