Stage 1 in an 07 STi takes away the sudden explosion of power that comes on around 4k rpms. It makes it a linear increase from about 2.8k up to that point. Much more useable.

Hrmmm... I doubt that, you probably were just getting on it more. I'm currently getting ~22 mpg on my stage 1 07 STI.

I'll add my own comments to this thread. I'm glad on the 07s it helps low end power...I ABSOLUTELY HATE having to wait until 4k for an assload of power to be unleashed all of a sudden!!

I've just spent the past month driving the stock map when I had the Stage 1 for about 1 year prior. There is not a huge difference, but boy you notice the power loss when somebody takes your candy away. Boost does not build as quickly when you step on it and you are loosing at least 2psi of max. boost when your foot is flat to the floor.

I also have a vacuum gauge that is accurate and working well. I installed the gauge just before going stage 1 and I saw the increase in max boost go from .10mpa to .12mpa. It also would hit close to .12mpa in every gear with the stage 1 map. (except 1st for some reason... mind you the needle disapears faster than you can blink in 1st anyway)
Now that I am back to stock, boost never goes over .10mpa and in higher gears (5,6) it will not exceed 0.09.

I would say overall the stage 1 is a nice cleanup of the stock map, but it just teases you because you are only a downpipe and a protune away from a real animal.

(.10mpa = 14.5psi, the claimed stock boost target)

Is not my intention to highjack this thread, but I have a couple of questions regarding stage 1. 1)Will my car still pass emissions with stage 1? 2)What downpipe will fit a HKS hipower cbe?

don't know about the downpipe, you should be able to find that info with an HKS retailer though.

As long as you do not have check engine lights, you should pass the emissions test. Just make sure you give your car a good amount of learning/driving time (without changing the ECU) before going in. Otherwise you will fail for "not ready"

261whp(Dyno Dynamics- low reading) on my Stg1 06.
Power delivery was much more linear after the flash.
because you have an 07 and they seem to be prone to a ****e tune i would
do it just to clean things up.
Moreover, going Stg 1 is mild in the grand scheme of things.

Default Does protune needed for AP v2 stage II with downpipe

Any idea which downpipe will fit the stock cat back of my 07 sti, and also does a protune is necessary for Access port v2 stage II and down pipe set up for my subie.

Still waiting for PM BTW.

And yes you can run stage II on the stock cat back as long as the dp mates up with it. I think you will miss out on a minuscule (spelling) amount of powaaaaa though.

get the cobb street dp - it goes down to 2 1/2" where it meets the stock cat back and is a snap to install (if you have a hoist), and you use all the stock gaskets. (I also put on the Cobb SS heat shield that was easy to install as well)

AP2 stage II 93 octane map and Cobb dp absolutely transformed my car - today was the first day with it - very pleased!!
