you don't need one so essentially 30 seconds is too long

You don't necessarily need one, but it also depends on how you drive.

If you are running the car REALLY hard for quite a while, you'd probably want it to run for a few minutes.

Daily driving/cruising I wouldn't even bother with a turbo timer.

i do mine for 20 seconds, it doesn't need much since our turbos are water and oil cooled...it is a nice feature though to let everything cool itself before it shuts off.

I have mine set at 30 seconds, I figure it can't hurt especially with days already north of 100 degrees where I am.

I am assuming that's a water cooled turbo. Right?

I have mine set at 1:30. I guess I should turn it back down. Yeah, a turbo timer was my first mod because I was a noob. Then, I found this forum and it was already too late, so I just kept it. I will leave it on though because it does not hurt to have one.

^Yea, they are cool to have. Also, just because it's not needed doesn't mean it won't help. All cars could probably benefit in some small way from regular cool downs.

I don't understand the turbo timer thing... I mean, proper cooling has got to be a good thing, but how much cooling will 30 seconds of engine running possibly do? Will it even drop 3 degrees before you turn the car off and let it cool down naturally, as it would have anyway when you shut the car off?

If it was going to make any difference, you'd think it would need 5 minutes or something...

I've heard it's possible that the turbo may still be spinning at greater than idle speeds so it's a good idea to let it slow down while it's still being oiled.
