Default ecu systems

My 08 sti recently arrived in Belgium and i think its a great car!
But now i want some mods on it and a tune but all the ecu systems that i could find that are available for the 08 are only compatible for us models.
So now i would like to know if there are people in Europe with the same problem, or if they have found something that i can use.

Thanks

Hey,
I am in a similar situation but i am in australia, the acessport that COBB sells might work, but neither COBB nor Perrin care about selling them to anyone outside the US market so they wont say if they work or not.

In fact they arent even willing to send one out to test if it works. There is a similar device here in australia called and 'ezyflash' which does the same thing, but i couldnt tell you if it will work on your car either. If i were you i would look at what the guys in the UK are doing, since they will have the exact same car as you. (alll of this is simply because nobody knows if the ecu in US/UK/AUS versions are different...if they are the same then we all use whatever we like..but how are we going to find out )

If cobb says to try it, make sure you get it in writing that they will replace your ecu incase it messes up.

Same here guys (Mexico), and Iīve had the car for three months now and done some research, our ECU is what Subaru calls a World Market ECU. I would not put the US Cobb AP as it can fry the ECU (or even do some real damage to the engine). Our options are:
1.- Install a "piggyback" system like the Turbo XS UTEC + Protune,
2.- Install a "standalone" system like the Hydra + Protune, or,
3.- Just get a protune with the stock ECU (I am still looking into this last one, because I was just made aware that this is an option and I donīt know how safe or good it is).
Letīs help each other on this one and maybe the good guys at this forum can help us out.

If i am not mistaken, US spec is different from the Japan/Europe and Australia spec. Cobb, Perrin, HM are for US spec only.

The car is identical, the ecu programming is probably different though.

Vmax there are other companies that do similar things to the Acessport, i have alread found a company in australia that has a near identical product. I just to get there so they can do a pro tune map for my car

I dont want a piggyback or anything that would require cutting wires etc.

the problem in belgium is that there arent a lot of tuners for the subaru`s and that the car is not for sale yet. I have been looking for tuners in the UK but I`m not sure that they get the same car there, because they also have the right hand drive while the rest of europe has the left hand drive. But if the tuners or subaru dealers here on the forum could get some information for us like what the differrences are between the ecu`s, that would be very usefull.

in the UK tuners are just developing a reflash for the ecu using Ecutek software. 1 tuner is just completing a 360/360 from the 2.0l JDM STi. I was about to ask the question why Cobb AP is only for the North American market also. Will keep an eye on this thread.

EcuFlash will be supporting CAN bus Subarus in June. It will take a little time to locate the maps in different ROM versions for the world market, but the reflash capability will be there.
