Default Cold Engine: uneven throttle response

Ever since I have loaded the 91 map onto my 2006 Sti using the AP1, the car has uneven throttle response when a) the engine has just been started and b) you use under 10% throttle. The problem resolves itself after driving for a minute or more. I am keeping the throttle completely stable yet the car lurches around.

Does anyone else notice this?

I see it too - it's just the engine warming up. You get a little bit of lurching around and the rpms don't stay steady. Should be fine once the engine gets closer to its normal operating temp.

yes, this is exactly what happens... just wanting to make sure my engine is not having unusual problems with the map...

Its probably the coolant temp tip-in enrichment, I have that problem with my open source map, I have it mostly tuned out though. It was way rich causing it to stumble. As soon as the car warms up it is fine. It would take your tuner several days to get it dialed in because the car has to be completely cold for it to happen so they would have to drive it when cold, flash a new map. Wait for it to cool down again, drive it again, new map. Then the process would continue till you get it ironed out.

I believe this is the CL/OL delay doing this. Usually it it most noticeable on a cold car as you are describing. The 2005 and 2006 models do have the delay but of course not as severe as the 07 delay most of you have probably read about on these boards.

You have no clue what you are talking about. CL/OL delay would not come into play AT ALL at the engine RPM's and throttle positions that he is talking about.

Like I said before it is most likely the coolant temp tip-in enrichment and it just takes some playing with to get it right, or you can let your car warm up for 5 mins or so. It will be much more noticeable in the winter, trust me on that one.

Yeah my bad, I read the original post again and it did say under 10% throttle. My fault........

The tune can be set to idle at a certain RPM depending on coolant temp. I believe the stock setting, in fact, has the idle up around 2k when the coolant is very cold.

This is very easily set; I personally have mine set to idle at 2k until 156 degrees for a quicker warm up. The AP tune may be set similarly. It kinda makes driving funny before the car warms up fully.

my car is pro-tuned and i have the same pre-warm up stuttering on my car. when its warm it runs great though. Normally i drive the car right away very calmly until warm up. this makes it warm up faster than idling, reducing the time for possible blowby when the seals have not expanded yet

Oddly enough, it seems this lurching is getting more pronounced over the past month, yet I have been using the AP1 stage 1 map for 2 months now without any changes. I did not notice this lurching at first, but this week has been particularly bad.

Of course the issue clears up after the engine runs for 1 minute so I'm not too worried about it.

Could be the weather change, but here in Toronto we have gone from pretty cold when I first loaded this map to nice spring weather, yet the lurching becomes more pronounced with the warmer ambient air??? Maybe spring humidity is plaing a part??? (It is raining like crazy today and it was the worst ever this morning)
