Default WTF gas mileage (need some advise)

long story short my car used to get pretty good gas mileage with the off the shelf STG2 map from cobb on my V1 AP, i got my car protuned last summer and all was good getting about the same MPG, well i rolled my car out of winter storage about a month ago and it's getting absolutly terrible gas mileage, i used to average around 20-4 driving it however i wanted and now it's down to 18 or less out of boost almost all the time being very conservitive, i'm this close // to unflashing my $380 protuned map(s) and switching it back to the off the shelf map, i have a 15,19, and 20psi map and so far the 19/20psi maps have yeilded the same #'s, 96% of the driving on these maps to calcualte the mileage was all highway or with the cruise control on

my car was a car that took well to the off the shelf map and i didn't really notice a drastic change from going APstg2 to protuned other than smoothness
WTF

i used stabil in my tank as i have other years with this car and others for the winter months

any advise?

how long have you been driving it since noticing the negative shift in mpg?

my mileage on the OTS stg 2 was ~20 and my protune map is ~20

just more power, and smoother... (also tuned by Bailey)

i would switch to the stg 2 and see how it goes though... it wont hurt to try.

other things..... air filter? spark plugs? tire pressure? alignment? anything out of whack?

only thing i really changed on the car was going with 18in wheels but they're the same OD diamiter as what i was previously running, tire PSI is good as is my alignment (as far as i know) running a APS cai and the filter still looks pretty clean, never touched the plugs, car only has 17k on it right now...

better question, did you buy some cheap heavy ricer 18" wheels or some nice light weight 18's? the stock bbs are freakin light. Going from 20-22" on a truck makes a huge difference in acceleration, stopping distance and mpg. I cant really see 18's dropping you 2mpg lower but im sure it helped with the .5-1mpg . outter diameter just has to do with the speedo. You gained alot of weight in rotating mass period with those. But i bet they sure do look better

the BBS's aren't THAT light, people act like they only weigh 8lbs a piece or something, i highly doubt going to 18x8.5's shot my gas mileage

Bump this thread up. I have been getting horrible mileage lately myself so I was searching and found this thread. I have checked all the "normal" stuff. Air cleaner, tires, etc. Maybe I have been getting bad gas but I am only getting around 15 mpg. Yeah at four dollars a gallon that kinda sucks. I am thinking about going back to OTS stage 2 for a while. Anyone else getting terrible gas mileage? OBTW my mods are APS 70, Walbro pump, Cobb TBE, Protune by Harman. Rolling on stock wheels with RE01R's. I might swap out the intake/fuel pump and reflash the Cobb OTS map this weekend if I can't get any other ideas....

my 04 17x7.5 bbs wheels only weighed 15.5lbs from what i've seen, the 05-07 17x8 bbs wheels weigh close to 17lbs. how much do your 18x8.5s weigh? i stepped up to 18x8.5 too and they only weigh 2lbs more than my oem wheels.

Before you reflash or run another map, I would reset the ECU. Just disconnect your battery for 15 seconds or so. That will reset the ECU to the state of the last upload which was your protune.
