Default Going from 93 Octane to 91 w/Ecutek 93 custom map

I have an Ecutek custom map using 93 Octane. Will I need another custom map made using 91? Will I be ok to run the car on 91 for a little bit before the new map is installed?

Anyone? I've looked around and haven't really found anything that answered my question. I'm moving from an area that only has 93 octane to Phoenix that has only 91 and race gas at a few spots. Will I be ok for a little while to run 91 octane on my car when it was tuned using 93? What are my options? I'm thinking since I'm using another tuner and will be forced in to buying another ecutek liscense at full cost that I'll just use the cash to buy an AP instead.

imo i wouldnt switch to the ap. if u have a lap top u can get a new 91 map from ur tuner without going to the shop. it would be the cheapest in the long run....and i would run 91 on a 93 map too long, u should be fine because i do beilve the STi comes stock with a 93 map....(correct me if im wrong)...hope this helps.

Well i had a map for 94 oct then they stopped making it.So i switched to 93 and it was ALRIGHT,but the car really didnt like it..My tuner said a 1 point difference would not be that bad and the computer would try to adjust itself...But its 2 points and i dont know if the computer could adjust..Best said i wasnt comfortable with running 93 on a 94 map..But im sure it was fine

yeah I don't think it would be the best idea. You are gonna be running some risk if you do it. Try flashing the base line stage 2 map to get you by if you can....

Running a custom 93 map on 91 is a bad idea. Chances are the tuner took advantage of the extra octane and the car will knock if you run a lower octane fuel. 93 octane maps don't make more power because 93oct fuel make more power when burned. the 93 octane maps make more power because 93oct fuel is more resistant to detonation so more boost/timing etc can be run without the car detonating.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try getting the 91 map from my tuner and reflashing it the first time I fill up with 91. Will I be able to keep my custom 93 map, in case I switch back to 93? Could a Meth kit help solve my problem?
