Smile Protune from Harman Motive in CA

I have already talked with Dan from Harman and he sounds like someone I will like working with when it comes to getting my car a protune. My question is to find out if he is really that good for me to spend all the extra money to ship my sti to him and not to someone else? I only ask because I am a few days away from doing just that. I am installing my meth kit and once thats done I'm giving Dan a call and telling him to send the transportation company to Ky to pick my car up. From what I have read so far is nothing but good things about him and his company. So I think this is a good choice.

Dan is a cool guy and down to earth, the new shop is crazy nice and big.
Best thing to do is having a good communication with your tuner.

They have a lot of experience on Subarus, I will say Subarus is 95% of what they do.

Totally worth it to get tuned by Dan. Are you in Kentucky? Man that is a long ways from Cali. Are there no good shops in your area? It must cost a fortune to ship a car back and forth that far.

It is definitely worth it harman motive is a great shop and dan is a very knowledgeable tuner. He is very smart and knows what he is doing. Alot of subaru expierence. I have a good buddy that had harman install his 30r kit and tuned it. He made 440whp and 420wtq on 95oct in like 100deg whether. He has been running his car hard for like 20k miles with it like that and no problems at all. Get tunes= reliable cars.

I assume shipping it would be very expensive. where do you live? there are a lot of tuners that fly around tunning, maybe you can throw some money at one of them and have them come out to where you are.

Smile Re: Protune from Harman Motive in CA

Since I live in ky shipping my sti to harman is going to cost me $2k. Then I plan to spend another $2k on the dyno/tune and if Dan see's anything I might need then I am letting him go ahead and do it. Im glad to see that everyone all has good things to say about harman. Their might be a few shops that are much closer to Ky however I would rather get a copmany that knows what they are doing and get better results; even though it will cost a lot more. You know the saying "you get what you pay for" and keeping that in mind I hope after its tuned my sti is crazy fast. I was also told about a tuner tim bailey that is from washington I think and he travels tuning cars. He is suppose to be coming in this area, but since I have never heard of a tuner that travels and doesnt stay at one place; I think I will just stick with harman since we have had a few talks.

i do not think its worth it to go to harman motive to just tune. harman is 1min away from my house but i decided not to get tuned by them. overpriced and there are so many other good tuners who can do just about same jobs for less.

If you want to get tunedd by Dan, I think it is better to have Dan flying to KY and paying him. Prolly the same amount of $$ plus your car wont be hauled round trip.

Since I was thinking about having Harman tune my STi when I move to SoCal, I was wondering who you used to tune that is 'reasonable' and decent. Send me a PM if you'd prefer not to throw it on the forum.

It shouldn't cost $2k for dyno time. I had two maps made by them for $500. One for pump and the other for race gas.

I think $2k is the max total he wants to spend with parts if Harmon Motive decide that something should be upgraded/changed to the engine.

Very good reputable tuner. Now would I spend 4k on a stage 2 package... um NO. Find a good tuner near you and save a lot of money for some suspension parts.
