Default Fried my AP?

I was installing the latest 1.2.4 version onto my V2 Accessport this evening and encountered an error on my PC. Everything on the PC end was fine, but the AP would not eject from the computer. The screen read 'updating' and nothing more. I let the computer sit for five minutes and still nothing occured. I hoped maybe it would do something, but nope. I had no choice but to unplug the USB cable from my computer.

The result, the AP does not power on on my computer or in the vehicle. I'd imagine it's fried. I bought it from a 3rd party, so I am not sure if Cobb can help me out. I already filled out a repair form and plan on calling them in the morning.

Right now the car is flashed with the v103 Stage 1 map. I'm curious if I am ever going to be able to go back to stock once it is reflashed with this map via AP. Or will Cobb be able to help me out.

This is frustrating.

same thing happened to me when updating for my 03 wrx.... i got one of the Cobb techs on the phone and they had a way to reset the AP. I just shipped mine back to em and they did the latest firmware and such along w/ and inspection to make sure everything was fine.... (if i remember correct, it was a while ago) --- if i also remember, they paid for shipping, but dont quote me on that

Well that makes me feel a little better about it. I do not care if I have to pay shipping, I'd just like a healthy Accessport. I would have called them last night, but I was running the update at like 10PM MST

It's not fried. It's just blanked so can't even boot into the update mode. When flashing these things, be sure to turn off ALL your other software (anti-virus, screen savers, firewalls, mail, printers, and anything else that might be running).

If ANYTHING interrupts the process (or causes the USB channel to "rediscover") before it's done, you're hosed. Cobb and reflash it from scratch as they'll have a master tool that does it.

Now the question will remain - do they just need to reprogram it (which is free) or are they going to need to replace parts (which costs me money because I bought it from a 3rd party about 3 months ago)?

99% sure they just have to reprogram it. All that happened was the connection was lost between the USB connector and the computer while you were updating, which caused a crater you could say, in the data. once the connection was re-established then it was confused etc... and froze up... if i remember what they did for my wrx, they went in and found the data of my stock base map (for returning the vehicle to stock), saved that data, completely cleaned out the memory and then updated it with the most recent firmware for me, along with loading the stock data back onto the accessport... you should be fine

Exact.. I mean exact thing happened to me. Call cobb. They will try a few things with you on the phone, then you might have to ship it off to them. They fix it for free and will upload the newest software.
