Default Custom factory gauge pod: What do u think?

What you guys think about this? It's not as obtrusive as the defi pod and it keeps the sleek factory look. I want to install some STRI gauges and not worry about the defi link meter stuff.

Here's a pic of the STRI gauges.

Heres a cheaper one for the stock look

WRXtra

Or if your up to it https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/p...roducts_id=662 and make your own face, but you have to shave down the plastic to fit some 52mm in. I think the stock size is like 48mm??

Anyway I used to have the stock pod and I enjoyed it very much

If you get STRI's don't get the cheaper X-Lines. I have some, I like them but they are more orange then red. Their more expensive gauges look better.

Those are the one's I'm going to get , the DSD-SLM II amber. This is the place I found the best prices and they will give you a break on a combo and shipping of three or more gauges.

You can save yourself some serious money and just make your own bracket to fit there. All you need is a piece of light gauge steel or aluminum, a 2" hole saw, and IIRC a forester top din setup. I made my own for there when I had my 04 STI.

I thought about doing that but I couldn't tell from the pic where the factory bracket ends and the faceplate ties into it to tell how much a pita it would be to fabricate one that looks good and not ghetto.

Hmm that subaru pod says only for 2002-2005 is that true? Did the clock pod change in 2006?

Ok, I found some better pics. It looks like it is only a very thin gauge aluminum piece with the 3 holes and a bend at the top but I don't see how it is held in place in the pod.

In 2006 they started to put that Passenger Airbag On/Off light next to the clock.

do you have the x line ones? I'm about to purchase three of them. I am going to get the smoked lens, amber LED ones. Just as long as them do their job, and look close to the IP its all good

Ok, I finished my version and added a carbon fiber faceplate to the custom bracket I fabricated to make it look cool. I only have one STRI DSD SLM amber gauge so far but the rest are soon to be ordered. I needed one to trim the factory pod housing with my Dremel to fit the oversize gauges. I got the gauge pod for only $63 from subarugenuineparts.com, wrxextra wanted $120 for their custom version and Scoobytuner $149.95.
