Jeff, do you have access to 93 octane? Or can you get some octane booster and provide a measured ''REAL" 93 OCtane tuned map for us folks that use 94 octane fuel? I'd like to trade that 92 octane map err I mean that 93 octane map you sent to me with my new AP 2 weeks ago.

I would be another guy waiting to see how the PERRIN maps work for higher elevation. I'm also in Edmonton, Alberta and since the spring purchase STI would be a DD it would need to retain its reliability (which it should) and cold start programs... I would also be using the 94 ethanol blend at the same 3550 ft elevation.

It would be great if you can produce a 94 octane map in the future.

Wait so let me get this straight, a water injection system will give an additional 30ftlbs to the gains already experienced by stage 1 AP? Tell me more about this kit! Is that kind of power safe for this engine/drivetrain? Again, excuse my ignorance, I'm new to modding, but interested in dabbling.

BTW, I received my AP today with Perrin map. Its snowing and my mileage is still too low, but I'm anxious to give it a try. Its like waiting for Xmas!

Water/Meth is one of those things that you either like or you don't. Meth allows you to extract and incredible amount of additional power out of a tune but there are downsides. First off is the annoyance of keeping it filled. Second, if the unit fails while you're at maximum load, kiss the engine goodbye. I'll personally never use meth injection.

As for drivetrain strength...the tranny you don't have to worry about until you are making 500+wtq. The engine is generally reliable up to 400whp, though it is all in the tune and how you drive the car. The first thing to go is usually a ring land. A stage 1 or 2 tune in the 280-320whp and 350+wtq is generally quite safe for a daily driver. Nothing is ever a sure thing though...even stock motors can pop.

I used to think the same thing until someone on evom made a video of them killing power to their pump while at WOT just to show that the LaBonte Motorsports injections failsafe works.

This guy had some balls to do this

I'm another potential buyer curious about a tune for elevation. Would like to do stage 2 and I'm at ~5k feet. (reno) I can't get anything better than 91 around here though.

I just ordered my AP w/Perrin stage 1 93oct map. The funny thing is, I'm not sure whether I'll use the Cobb OTS map or the Perrin map. The thing I don't like about the Perrin map is that it changes the boost for S & I modes; I-mode runs on wastegate boost. I'd rather have it like stock where the boost is the same for all modes but the throttle aggressiveness is the only difference. I believe the Cobb OTS map is like this.

The nice thing about the Perrin map is that it is a 93 map tuned with 92 octane and I'll be running 94, so it should be reasonably safe, assuming all the other tuning parameters are reasonable. It was also made at sea-level, which is better for me as well since I'm at 100-250ft asl.

The funny part is that I don't even have my car yet...but I'm already modding it. lol.

When I was watching the PSI, it looked to me like the COBB map was changing max boost depending on what mode I was in.

The way I understood it the stock SI modes affect boost too.

I just received my free Perrin map(93 Octane) this afternoon.I finally got a chance to test it against Cobb Stage 1 map . The perrin tuned map seems to have more torque at low end compared to Cobb's OTS map,the boost kicks in hard and early. The power delivery is very smooth. The 7k redline is also very nice,I didn't got a chance to hit it on the street though.

However,The only thing I don't like about the Perrin map is that it changes the boost for S & I modes.

Just like what Digitalfiend mentioned earlier ,I'd also prefer to have the "Si system behave like stock where Boost is the same for all modes but the throttle aggressiveness is the only difference!"

It would be nice to see another version of Perrin tuend map that retain the stock SI throttle aggressiveness switch functionality. You can probably offer both maps,so people can choose the one they prefer.

It's good to hear that the Perrin map is nice and smooth.

Out of curiosity, can you confirm whether the Cobb map retains stock-like SI drive functionality?

I actually also agree with this. I'd like to actually leave "I mode" as stock for these reasons:

-I want the engine to take it easy until its warm when its so cold outside (15 deg F today)
-its a bit smoother shifting for when other people are in the car
-My wife prefers it slower
-its totally awesome to have a knob that turns it from grocery getter to track star. I think being able to experience the difference with the flick of a knob has ULTRA cool factor. When I let people test drive my car, I have them start on I mode and tell me how fast it is!! Then I flick it to s# and they freak out. Thats just cool.

Jeff, are you listening?
