| Junior STI Driver | I can only assume we have the type of unit that logs how many times the rev limiter was bumped, what happened just before the airbags deployed, etc. Does it lose all that stuff when we clear the thing by disconecting the battery for a long time? Just wondering 'cause if i ever have a problem I don't want the dealer giving a hard time with my warranty by telling me that I hit the rev limiter. If I can erase that it would be good. When I first got out of the break in mode I accidently hit the rev limiter several times just getting used to the difference between the STi and the old WRX. IWSTI Addict since: Mar 2004 Trader Rating: (0) | well, i wouldnt really sweat the rev limiter bump, because if you read the STi owners manual very carefully, it actually tells you that you "With the exception of cases where sudden acceleration is required, the vehicle should not be driven with the tachometer's needle inside the red area. Failure to do so can lead to excessive engine wear and poor fuel economy" It doesnt mention voiding of warranty, nor does it define what they define to be "cases where sudden acceleration is required"... So, you could say "there was this moron doing 20 under the speed limit, so sudden acceleration was required to overtake them in the dotted-line passing zone, which was why i hit the rev limiter" This ad is not endorsed by this member.
