IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2005 Trader Rating: (6) | First time I had this issue with my 04'. Just started this week, my car's starter began acting up. When I turn my car on, it does not ignite right away. Now, the gauges flicker a bit and lags for close to 5-10sec. before my car turns on. Once the car is on, its fine. But this has been happening constantly, everytime I turn my car on; it happens. I think its the starter but not sure; can anyone chime in on this? Could it be my system by any chance? (hardly have my system on without having my car on though so it should mainly draw from the alternator). Currently have 55,600miles on it. Thanks guys! This ad is not endorsed by this member. | Lurker | What happens when you try to crank? Does the starter actually turn over, or nothing....then it suddenly cranks? Does it happen mostly in cold weather? I had this problem w/ my 04. It took 5-10 min of constantly turning the key over to finally get it to crank in some cases. Battery, alternator, and starter all checked out. I replaced the battery cables and relocated the grounding point. I believe poor grounding is an issue on some Subarus. I also made a new electrical connector to replace the one that activates the starter solenoid because the stock one looked a bit corroded and had a loose fit. Haven't had any cranking hesitation since. |

A new Interstate and it runs like a champ. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |
