Default What ECU/tuning device can be used to tune JDM cars?

I'm going back to Korea this comming summer, and I'm thinking about setting up a e-mail tuning program with one of the shops here... since there are not many experienced tuners over there and none have any clue about tuning Subarus. I've been posting on Korean Subaru forums, and there seem to be a demand of more efficient way of getting a tune rather than flying in a JDM tuner. I think some of the shops already do this... I dyno the car, datalog it, send the datalog, and the tuner e-mails back with a map... repeat this few times until the map is perfect.

Anyway, I guess can use Cobb AP or Open ECU for USDM cars over there, but I was wondering what can be used on JDM cars. Does anyone know? Maybe Open ECU?

Thanks in advance.

Open port does cover some JDM ecu's. Check the latest update for the complete list.

I know that in Taiwan (pretty close to Korea), we don't get JDM vehicles.
This is because we have LHD cars.
I also read in a magazine that the 04-05 Imprezas sold in Taiwan are actually more similar to USDM cars.
I could be wrong, but I would check and make sure the Korean vehicles are actually JDM before setting up everything.

sjl1614, thanks. I'll check out the list.

17sd, Subaru doesn't sell cars in Korea. We have to import the cars ourselves... so some people import JDM cars from Japan, and some prefer LHD cars from north America and Europe.

Tactrix cable/ecuFlash/Enginuity do work with JDM/ADM models except those with CANbus at the OBD port (SI drive model, etc..)

some tuners (Ed @ EQTuning) do remote tunes...basically, he sends you a map, you datalog, he makes adjustments, you datalog again --> etc until you are both happy.

I don't see why he wouldn't be able to do this internationally. Shoot him a pm.
