Default Anyone running an Open Source Map on their 07?

I had been planning on getting an AP however my brother picked up a tactrix cable for his 06 WRX and said he'd let me use it. So i figured i'd look into open source stuff even though i am a little hesitant.

Any of you guys with 07 STi's using an open source map and if so, which one? I've been following most of Gabe's post but having trouble registering on XPTtuning to find his map.

Forgot to mention, i'm looking to go stage 1.

I run his STG 0 "Fix" and havent had a problem. He also highly recommends the osecuroms maps. (Hope I spelled that right) Im doing opensource because here in Europe tuning is 1200 - 1500 bucks! Im going to have to go with the OTS STG 2 map from the above mentioned source. They also offer to help you tweak it if you have any problems. I think you do a pull and use some kind of monitoring software they offer. Then email them the results and theyll tell you where youre at. Hope Ive been somewhat helpful. I havent looked at this since May or June. Ive been doing suspension stuff.

Thumbs up Re: Anyone running an Open Source Map on their 07?

I'm running Gabe's v1.02 and will be loading v1.04 soon.
In my humble view point it's a top quality "base map" and thru data logging has proved to be safe with no knock after a brief learning curve.
Gabe is the man for offering these maps, but user beware. It's your baby. Do what feels right to you. No guarantees or warrantees implied with free maps,,,

Are you using any gauges? Im thinking about DL'ing it tonight and testing it on the way to work tomorrow. How long was your learning curve? I have his stg 0 right now and havent had a problem. Car has no audible det and its been on for almost 10k miles. Do you have a link for his current map?

Stock boost gauge for me, but a wide band would be nice. OSEcu Roms & XPT Tuning :: Log in
Page 1 has maps. You need a logger (Enginuity or others)with the most current ECU updates and logger updates as well to properly log. The map is well designed and learns as quick as you cause it to, and then continues as use and conditions cause.

What did you use to flash it? ECUFLASH? I wonder if I will have to take my stg 0 map off first? I havent played with this stuff in a while. I have to connect the green caps right before I flash correct? What are your conditions? Are you at sea level? Im at about 1500 ft. The alps are higher of course. Any idea how that effects it?

Thats a lot of questions, lol...

1. EcuFlash will do it and you do not need to remove the existing map first. It will be over written, so if you want to save it, pull it off using the 'read' function in EcuFlash.

2. Yes, connection the green caps before you flash and disconnect before starting the engine.

3. I believe there is someone over at XPT running his maps at high elevation without any issues. Low elevation is more of a concern as it causes a your injectors to run at greater capacity. Log IDCs and make sure they dont get too much about 95ish, over 100 and are you running out of injector.

The most important thing is logging. Keep an eye on your car and you'll be fine.

the .9x series are the least aggressive.

The 1.0x are noticeably faster (road dyno puts 1.04 at 309whp, 300wtq). If you have access to 93 octane, try out 1.04. If you only have access to 91 octane, he is suggesting staying with the .9x series.

IMHO, i would flash 1.04 (it learns really fast) and go easy on it, regardless of your octane, until the fuel learns. You'll know this happens when the Air/Fuel Learning values become consistently positive in the same areas.

Then hammer on it a bit if you get some nasty FBKC, then try the .9x series. All of his maps are safer than the stock map in that they will go into limp home mode if you get the kind of knock you see on the stock map.
