ok with me

i don't think it's me personally that day it was 75 degrees and that run probually would of been a 13.4 or a high 13.3 if it was 25 degrees cooler outside. it's just people on the forum and at the track are going 13.4 and 13.3 at high 99mph to low 101mph. i will have to see if weather is the factor i don't think shifting is because i was shifting at 7k and 6.5k and it did not make a big diffrence.and i thought my 60ft was pretty good could be a little better but good non the less.

according to this, the 1-2 and 4-5 shifts should be at redline. in any event, i think 6000 rpm is too early.

Some key factors on obtaining a good ET:

-Get out of first gear as quickly as possible. Once you launch and begin to build speed in first gear, you should already be shifting into second. You should NEVER redline first gear.

-Practice, practice, practice shifting. Your right foot should hardly have to come up when tapping that clutch pedal. If it is, you are shifting too slow.

-Quick shifting, a good launch, and most importantly- a properly maintained vehicle(!) will help you cut down ETs quicker than anything.

Cooler weather will definately help you too mike. My car when 2 tenths faster stock when the temp went from 70 to 55 degrees. Shifting is huge though. Makes a big difference.

Last time I was at the track among other things I tried to watch the tach to see how far the rpm dropped between shifts and it seemed that when I shifted between 6 and 6500 rpm the tach only dropped to around 4,800 rpm (1,500 rpm range) witch is slightly above the peak torque output of the car.
I am basing my 6,000 rpm shift point on a good torque range verses a good hp range.
But my thinking is probably wrong, as my times were the same (12.8 range)as always, but my trap speed was 2 mph slower.

Next time I;'m at the track I will try their recomended 1-2 at redline and 4 to 5 at redline and the rest at around 6500 and then 6000 and see what happens.
I may be loosing speed by shifting at 6,000 rpm from 4 to 5.

That will have to wait till spring as the season is done up here
