basically it is, practice makes perfect. i heard alot of stuff about launching. Sliping hte clutch and dumping the clutch. both hurts something. i hardly launch but, i blip it up to 5500 and hold to the point where its the cars about to move but doesnt and when its time to do it, slam on hte gar and let the clutch go, btw get ready real fast b/c 2nd comes soooooo quick

I find launching this car pretty easy, there isn't necessarily just one way to launch. Personally I blip the throttle, bouncing the RPM's from 4500-5k, when the second light on the tree comes on I goose the throttle up to 5k and release the clutch as quickly as I can without straight out dumping it. Meanwhile I am obviously going WOT as soon as I feel the clutch grab, so far I have yet to run worse than a 1.8xx 60', and often I am in the low 1.7 60' range. I don't claim to be the best but it gets it done for me, also I usually just leave it in auto mode when I am out at the track, and for what it's worth I launch the same way on the street which is a very rare occasion for me. Good luck, dont break anything .

I do about the same as above but blip it at 5000-5500 and qickly come off the clutch when it grabs. So far my best 60' with this method has been a 1.654 and is usually always a low 1.7

Make sure when your 'blipping' the throttle to push the gas all the way too the floor..... it builds more boost.

more boost, more broken parts. Well not really, but yah i think revs around 5K are reasonable, then let out the clutch; when it starts to "catch" pull ur foot back like you just stepped in

I rev to 5000-5500 and pull my foot off the clutch as fast as I can, while pushing the throttle to the floor at about the same time the clutch catches.

I haven't been to the drag strip in a while, but the last time I went I was good for a consistent 1.8 60' on a track that's known for it's lack of grip. Most of my launches happen on crappy parking lot asphalt.

I've gotten a few comments at autocrosses about my launching technique, all of them are along the lines of "holy crap you get out of the hole quick... fun to watch"

Keep a good watch on your engine mounts We autoX'd the car for 2 seasons with a lot of launches, and they broke at the last event of the season:

probably 150-200 launches on the car

(stock 05 engine mounts)

here's a video of a 1.6 60ft launch on some 18inch wheels, gt35r turbo. the video will give you an idea of "bliping" your rpms and slipping your clutch. http://videos.streetfire.net/Player....9-7DFD85F371E1
