Default Is it bad to start in 2nd gear?

it always been a question in my mind...like i have done it before in the car rarely but i have done it because it has enough torque, but my friends tell me it's bad on the tranny.

please acknowledge me on this.

Not bad on transmission at all. Can be bad on clutch if you ride it too much to get going.

Why start off in second? That's what a first gear is for.

It would actually be slightly easier on the tranny but the difference is not worth thinking about. It is a little harder on the clutch though. Sometimes I will shift from 1 to 3 or 2 to 4 or 3 to 5 to be lazy but I don't skip first.

The only time I heard about starting out in second is is wit a two wheel drive car on an ice patch. I wouldn't do it in an STI cause u jus going to burn more clutch. Save the clutch for launching.
