Default 1/4 prep

So there are a TON of threads about how to launch and what gears you hit, but I thought about how differently we may stage. For example the track I go to I'd say 98% of the STi/WRXs do not go through the water box. It's essentially pointless since most of us aren't putting down retarded numbers to do burnouts. I guess what I'm looking for is who does and doesn't go through the water box and also what tires do you guys run?? I think tire prep is another topic that needs to be looked at......maybe even suspension set ups! What do you guys think?

i avoid the water box at the better of the 2 tracks i go to because there is space for me to. on the other track i have to drive through it which means, slipping of the clutch-burning it a little unfortunately- to get the damn water off my tires.

^It's not litteraly a box of water. It's where the track tech's spray water down for burnouts. Some tracks are to narrow to avoid going threw the water. I too had the water problem, it really pissed me off. Not to mention the slightly downhill start line.

I don't go through the box but I think it might be beneficial on some of the stickier tracks to go through it so you can get some wheel spin on the launch and not bog or hurt your driveline.

It might be worth a run to find out the next time I'm at the track...

the water box serves as 2 things.
1. easier to get the your tires sticky(for mid range hp cars)
2. prolongs the track!..helps get rid of mud, rocks, etc out of your tires when peeling out

nope dont see a point with all-wheel drive when its primarily used to get the tires hot and allow for more grip, plus with street tires water gets between the treads and makes the guys on slicks slip when there is water at the line.
