My other car is a 99 Legacy Outback and aside from using regular gas it doesnt save any money on gas. Either way, I like the car but wouldn't recommend the car if you are mainly looking for better mpg. I would also like to get an older subie for my dd but it would not be to save mpg/money but rather to retain the value of my STi. I can't rationalize having 3 cars right now.

civics are soo boring though... i mean if you are going to be sitting in the car all the time, it has to make you smile a little :] Found a 1999 Saturn SC2 ... 5000 with some 80,000 miles.. hmmm

i have a stock 02 wrx wagon as a DD with my o8 STi. The mpg in the wrx is but in the STi. Not much difference between the 2. Of course the STi doesn't sit at redlights too much...

If your open to any make, any VW TDI (Diesel) is the way to go. My current 02 Jetta TDI pushes 270 ft/lbs at 2500 rpm while still getting 50mpg.

STI and TDI, No better combo.

Now all I need is to replace the VW TDI with one of the new upcomming Subi Diesels.

Umm I get like 30mpg commuting to work in my STi stage2. Stay out of the gas except for when you want to have a little fun.

get a civic if you want gas milage.
