Default Flat foot shifting WITHOUT COBB AP map

I'm just curious how many people flat foot shift without the cobb map?

Also, what rpm's do you actually shift if you do flat foot shift?

This is more for drag racing than anything else but obviously can be applied to any kind of racing or driving.

I am kind of worried about flat foot shifting because I'm not exactly sure what damage is being done to the drivetrain.

I usually lift up like 2 inches between shifts when I drag? If that makes any sense to you guys.

Thanks for checking it out.

id say use the cobb just to be safe. When u dont use the cobb but still flat foot shift, its just bouncing off the limiter which isnt really the best for the car. The cobb is like a 2 step limiter at a lower rpm (usually 5500 or 6000) vs the 7000 limit

It seems like logically, it would be close to useless. The FFS map is primarily so you can keep up boost during shifts.

exactly, so safe urslef the hastle of FFS and just go with crawford perfomance's turbo kit where they use no bov or bpv so u always keep boost between shifts.haha, again my basis crawford posts

My car is bone stock including the factory tune, and I have zero problems FFS. I always do it when I'm racing, or just driving spirited. Heck I'v even powershifted 5th & 6th before!

It won't hurt anything if your doing it right, and if you shift quick like you are supose to when FFS you should not be hitting the rev limiter.

Some of the stuff I hear around here.

i·ro·ny [ahy-ruh-nee, ahy-er-] Pronunciation –noun, plural -nies.
An outcome of events contrary to what was, or might have been, expected.

Example: The above quote will prove to be sadly ironic.

what you should do is hook up something that shows what your ECU is doing during your FFS.

Mine shows the motor being retarded and losing power for a little bit when I do it.

having less power for a longer amount of time than it takes to shift your car with the clutch seems pointless.

FWIW,
What type of racing do you do?
Got a time slip from the drag strip?
I personally Haven't see a good time posted by anyone doing a FFS in a stock car.

If your FFS is so leet let's see a slip showing your mad skills.

Autocross?
Not a single national or regional driver I have spoken with has been faster with flat foot shifting. in fact talking with a couple of them is what made me check what was going on with the motor during a FFS in the first place.

IMO is FFS possible? Sure.
Is it faster? HELL NO.
If you want fast shifting get a dog box and do it the right way.

My 07 dosent have any of the problems most people experience like bucking, hesitation, ect.. And its not tuned, I bought it right off the showroom floor. I have done 12.9, all stock, only powershifting 1-4th. The 07's don't like to cruise at a steedy rmp, you have to keep the rpms moving, thats where everyone has problems with the map.
