I belive it, with good driver skills the tranny/clutch will last well over 100K. Most of these forums guys suck at driving thats why they are breaking **** FFS.

shifting while the gas stays FLAT on the floor

you got to be quick so it doesnt hit the rev limiter and bog down

Yeah, I don't believe I'm good enough to FFS. I'll stick with my "style" until I turn her into a race only STi, then I'll get a dog box.

Which in an STi, from the video's I've seen. WOW.

I wouldn't be doing no lift without the program. That is pretty abusive.

Flat-foot-shift without a 2-step rev limiter (like cobb ap, open source, utec, etc) and eventually you will be greeted with a nice grind. It feels like you aren't causing any damage, until you can't do it anymore. I know because I now have damaged/worn syncros in both 2nd gear and 5th gear.

I used the cobb map to get the hang of ffs after i had it down i got rid of it.

Once you get it down pat i dont see how this could possibly be anymore abusive to the transmission then when not using the ffs map.

ec2k1gt, if you're using FFS to go faster then it's always going to be hard on something. Even if the software keeps the RPM's down, there's still the matter of ripping the shifter through the gears at syncro killing speeds.

If you're not yanking the shifter around like a joystick I just don't see how it's any faster than doing a regular shift.

For the record I don't do this with my car. I learned about syncros while driving my older, cheaper cars. The gearbox in this car is far too expensive to beat on like that, so I finesse my way through the gears and let the syncros do their job rather than force it. With the right touch you can shift almost as fast and do no damage.

Omg I lol at you so hard

You just made my day. So the ecu is not happy at a steady rpm? Is this your first subaru? or performance car for that matter? Really go reed up on the known issues with your year, its not a "ecu being mad at steady rpm"

Back to topic, FFS hard on engine components as it is to trans components. Just shift like normal ppl would do it, which is the same way race drivers do it, jsut a little more faster

everybody else on earth calls it power shifting

not sure why the sti guys decided to call it FFS or "flat foot shifting"

its power shifting, foot stays burried in the floor while you shift, also some people call it no lift shift

FFS is more technical description. I posibly think cobb could have created that term. But I think its way more informitive than "power shifting".

I have noticed this too, the ECU pulls timing like a champ.
