Unhappy WTF am I doing wrong?? Help please!

I have an 04 STi and I'm having some trouble that is probably driver error, but I want to know what I'm doing wrong.

Basically what happens is when I'm attempting to drive spiritedly and I'm going WOT, my shifts between 1st and 2nd are fine, and anything above 3rd is fine as well, but shifting from 2nd to 3rd I buck like crazy when I push 2nd gear anywhere close to redline before shifting into 3rd. I either have to shift from 2nd into 3rd well before 5000 rpms or if I push it past that and try to put it in 3rd the car shudders. If I want to push it to redline or anywhere near it in 2nd gear and not buck I have to skip 3rd completely and go right to 4th.

Is this normal? I had an 04 wrx before I got this car and never had this issue.Am I just an asshat for a driver or what's my deal?

Somebody please give me some advice.

FYI, performance related mods to the car are as follows:
APS 3" turbo-back exhaust, APS Cold Air Induction, APS Dual-port Recirc valve, Kartboy Short Shifter, COBB tuning Accessport v2 Stage 2 programer, COBB Launch Control d/l, car is Pro-tuned

do some dataloggin, to make sure the ecu isn't doing anything funny.
or take it back to your tuner to have it diagnosed.

that does not sound normal at all.
from your description it almost sounds like you're hitting fuel cut in 2nd gear

oh, does it also doe this when you're not WOT ?
try revving out 2nd all the way to redline, but don't floor it all the way.

I've never heard of 2nd to 3rd being difficult on STIs. If anything, people have problems with 1st to 2nd--like he said ^^^^ check your car.

Mechanical problem aside it is most likely that you are getting back on the gas before you have let the clutch all the way out. Doing so will cause the car to buck.

if it were so, he would have similar problems in the upshift from every gear. i do not think hes shifting any different into 3rd than the rest, but only 2-3 gives a problem

I have never experienced this with my Stage 2 2004 STi. Does the bucking begin only after you are in 3d,clutch out,WOT again? Does it last all the way to the rev limiter in 3d? If you are at lower rpm in 3d and go WOT,does it run smoothly all the way to the rev limiter?

Try it without the launch control map. Mine did the same thing when I tested out LC and flat foot shifting.

I think you are hitting the flat-shifting "rev-limiter." If you aren't ALL the way back off the clutch, the flat-shift will hold the revs at 4500... Raise the flat-shift limit to 5500 to 6k rpm and it should be nice and smooth.

+1. Most likely you are hitting the FFS limiter. I prefer the non-LC/FFS maps for this reason.

EDIT: and I don't feel comfortable sitting still revving my engine up to redline with the same lever I use to spray my windshield with soapy water.
