Default pre-1/4 mile tips

Does anybody have any tips for prepping before doing the quarter mile?

I take out the spare, but is there anything else you could do?

Wondering if filling the I/C spray with 35 degree F water and spraying would be any help, or keeping ice on the TMIC until before you're just about to race.

Anything special you could do to even remotely lower times?

also take out jack, and the cardboard cover...basically clear the whole trunk. Make sure your tire pressure is up to keep from bogging.....icing up the ic is a good idea...go with less than a 1/4 tank, maybe add some octane booster to make sure you dont pull timing...reset your ecu if your tuned...take a nice pre race dump. lol

1. Let car cool down for about 90 minutes before first run
2. Deflate Rear tires to 20 psi and front tires to 28psi.
3. Bring 10-15 pounds of dry ice and let cover your intercooler until intercooler turns white (Dyno proven power)
4. Launch when you see the last yellow light, the time you actually lanch it'll be green, trust me it works.
5. Rev up between 5500-6000. The instant the clutch ingauges let it out as fast as possible with out side stepping it.
6. Shift at 7k every gear, not an RPM before.
7. Have 1/4 to 1/3 tank of gas. Nothing more or less.

I achieved my 1/4 mile time in my sig with a turbo back, CAI intake and Cobb's Off the shelf stage 2 map. At the time I was on a 225 Falken tire with a crap tread rating of 400.

All good, but I would also add dont run like 20 times, do it like 5 tops and call it quits. Clutchs, trannies and axles arent cheap.

Not 100% true.

I've ran up to 22 passes on a test and tune day with no issues whatsoever. IF you know what you're doing, the only thing that gets beaten up are your tires.

But you're right about clutch, tranny, and axles not being cheap.

5 runs on a test and tune day equates to $10/run. I work for a living, i can't do that.

Back on topic: Make sure lug nuts are torqued to specs. Check fluid levels. Talk to your left foot about NEVER dump the clutch. And prepare to have fun! You'll do better if you're relaxed.

One more thing
shift quickly BUT smoothly. Try not to let the front end dive during shifts.
And dont let your tank go under 1/4 tank or you could possibly starve the pump at launch

Ummmm. So tire pressure high or low???? 2 people say two different things. I heard higher is better for our AWD cars.

Old threads rule. Seriously though, just leave it in auto. That is what most people do. There may be some gain in traction/transfer to open, but you are putting your driveshaft at risk.
