Default 2008 Shifter Goodies Fitment!!!!!

2008's are getting more common, and enough time has passed for folks to begin to identify what they want to change on the setup.

We're seeing quite a bit of that being the old standards of the shifter setup to start everyone off.

When it comes to driveline stuff and talking about all sorts of bushings we know it can get confusing. Therefore we have a small guide that will help you understand where each bushing goes. You can see that guide by clicking here.

So, without further ado, below is some 2008 fitment in the way of shifters.

Kartboy 6MT front shifter stay bushing

One of the first mods that any Subaru owner does to the car is the Kartboy front shifter stay bushing.

What it does is firm up the forward/back motion to help the lever snap home into gear.

The Kartboy 6MT front shifter stay bushing goes for $32, and shipping in the US is free.

You can order yours from TiC by clicking here.

Kartboy rear shifter stay bushing

There are two ends to the shifter stay rod, and this is the bushing that goes in the rear. It also is to firm up the forward/back motion of the lever, and just takes things to the next level beyond just the front stay.

The Kartboy rear shifter stay bushing is $35 and like all products from TiC the shipping in the US is free.

To order your rear shifter stay bushing from TiC click here.

Kartboy 6MT stay bushing combo

So say you're looking at both items above, and you want to get them at the same time. Well, that's really quick and easy. Just snag the combo pack, get them both at once, install them at the same time in one go, and save a couple of bucks.

The 6MT stay bushings combo goes for $62 (with free shipping).

You can order it by clicking here.

Kartboy STi shift lever

The gold standard in Subaru levers is the Kartboy lever. Made in the USA from 4130, and featuring a roughly 40% reduction in throw vs. stock this is a great lever for your STi.

The lever ships for $150 and you can get it from TiC by clicking here.

PLEASE NOTE: 2008 STi guys WILL need the TiC 6MT pivot bushings if you plan on using this or just about any other aftermarket STi lever. This stems from a change that Subaru made for the 2008 cars. More details on that a little bit further down.

I got started on this and then the phone started ringing non-stop, and once that abated it was my night to pick up TiC Jr.

TiC 06-08 Shift linkage bushings

These little critters go under the car in the actual linkage trunnion. They clean up a LOT of the side to side slop, and further enhance the shifter feel.

Why all this crap for the shifter - well, think about it - of the parts you actually use while driving you have direct tactile contact with:
Wheel
Pedals
Shifter
Seat

Why not work on making the stuff you touch every single day as good as it can be?

The TiC shift linkage bushings go for $30, and you can pick them up by clicking here.

TiC 6MT pivot bushings

The last bushing to be named in all the bushings in your shifter assembly.

This little one goes in the lever, and further cleans up that slop that develops over time, and is the last bit of what you need to make your lever click/snap home.

2008 guys please note -
If you are going to be using an aftermarket shift lever in your car you WILL need these. This is due to a change that Subaru made for the 2008 cars.

If you will be using the stock lever then you actually want the 5MT Wide bushings that will be listed below. If you upgrade to an aftermarket lever in the future you will then need to pick up the 6MT pivot bushings to make things fit correctly. We're sorry you have to do this, but don't blame us, blame Subaru.

These little bushings, while being a big help in shifter feel, go for a small price. $19.37 shipped in the US, and you can get them by clicking here.

A quick segway into the 02-07 stuff (these will NOT fit the 2008).

TiC tranny crossmember bushings.

Firmer than stock these go between the parts that make up the tranny subframe to help reduce the tranny from moving around on its mounts.

$30 shipped for free in the US, and you can get them from TiC by clicking here.
