Default Clunking/Slipping Rear Diff.

Changed my fluids last night for the second time in the 22K I've owned the car. (Its at 31K) Anyway, this is the second time I've used the Redline Powerpack (75w90NS for Transaxle and 75w90 for Rear Diff., both are GL-5) for the swap.

I noticed that this time the rear diff is kind of "clunking" or "slipping" on tight-low speed turns. (Like pulling into a parking stall or driveway.)

I couldn't quite get the car perfectly level for the filling of the diff and I am afraid I may have a bit too much in it.

Ideas would be great gentlemen. I'm gonna' pull the plug again tonight with the car off of the ramp/jackstand combo and use four jackstands.

Does the oil included have the required LSD additive?

I've gone round and round with Dave at Redline about the Powerpack being specific to the STI and he replies that it is the right oil every time. I stressed the fact that the WRX is different numerous times and he still replied that their gear oil is for the STI rear-end.

The first time I replaced the fluids I had no problem. Either that or I was such a noob to the car that I wasn't feeling the slippage or I wasn't hyper-sensitive to it like I am now.

I have an 05 Sti. My car is currently making a binding noise from the center diff area. It started about four months ago after the fluid change.
I brought my car to the dealer to have them take a look at the problem and they ended up changing the center diff then 3 months later changing the rear diff.
Sad to say the binding noise is still there.
I tried changing the fluid in the tranny and all I noitced is the smoothness of different fluids. LOL...
I still get the binding noise.

The noise only happens when going around tight corners (when parking in a parking lot in first gear with the steering wheel turned and locked at slow speeds). It sounds like the DCCD is in the off the auto mode in a different diff setting but being in AUTO.

Can it be my mods?
-group-n top mounts
-RCE springs
-Kartboy endlinks
-TIC kartboy Sexy rear end kit.

Can it be something else thats causing this problems?

Thanks in advance.

After going round and round with Redline about what goes in the STI transmission/driveline I put in what they recommended: Redline 75w90NS

Wrong...

I pulled that stuff out and put in a straight 75w90. (Redline 75w90) And replaced the rear diff fluid with OEM.

Problem Solved.

I hope this can help some people. I am thinking now that the 75w90NS has too many friction modifiers in it. So probably the Motul 300, Subaru Extra-S, Redline 75w90, or one of the ****tails from NASIOC are gonna' be okay in our drivelines. I will likely top mine off with some GM synchromesh.
