Default TiC/Kartboy Bushings

As most of the veterans know on here, TiC and Kartboy support our cars with some of the best bang-for-the-buck tuning parts available.

This is for the noobs. I purchased, just about, every bushing available from TiC and they make a WORLD of difference in shifting and feel in these cars. I cannot stress enough how the 1 - 2 shift has improved in my vehicle. Its like a whole new car. Most (not all) of the clunking, lurching, and vague feeling in the shifting and driveline is gone for good. I could not be happier.

If you ever have a question about whether or not to add these to your STI....

DO IT. These parts are like buying a case of M80's for the price of cap gun ammo...

(mods...this is just on the cusp of being in reviews...you make the call....thanks...)

yes, as a matter of a fact i do.......i liked the height of my factory short shifter lever, but i felt that the shifter was mushy and un-responsive, so i opted for just the super shift set, but i absolutely love it!

Did anyone have problems installing it on the sti short shifter compared to the stock one?

I have not heard of any problems specific to having the factory SS. In fact, there's a number of folks here on the board who really like it with the SS control rod from the lever to the linkage.

I have the factory short shifter on mine and it didn't make a difference. You wind up taking out the whole shifter assembly anyway. You shifted mine after I had it in didn't you?

If you already have the factory SS fine, but do not go out an spend $$ on one just to get the one part that you won't be replacing if you do a full kit. Not worth in my opinion unless someone gives it to you or you can buy it for stupid cheap.

Unabomber's Sexy Rear-End, Pink Tranny X-Member Bushings, Rear Kilcky Kit, Rear Subframe Outrigger Bushings, and a COBB SS and bushing.
Also: Group N Engine Mounts, Group N Tranny Mount, and the Energy Suspenion Front Control-Arm Bushing and Whiteline Steering Rack Bushing are curently in a holding pattern at a shipping warehouse somewhere.

Hit up Clint and tell him you would like a custom-package that includes "everything". He is SO cool about putting together a comprehensive package for each customer.

I'll say it again. Bang-for-the-Buck, bushings are the way to go for the noobs on a budget. Then an AP.

I'll vouch for that! The shifter bushings were one of the first things I did, then Group-N trans mount. That alone made it feel like a whole different car! There is a trade off tho, you will have an amazing driveline, but more NVH from the stiffer bushings.

That is very true. Initially when you install this stuff, you don't feel the NVH becuase you are too excited about the new performance. Then, without warning, you are sitting in traffic one day and you feel mysterious new vibrations and hear obscure new noises that make you uncomfortable. So, you buy an electronic listening device and go over your entire motor and driveline trying to find a "problem" where ther is none. Bushings cause paranoia for hyper-anal STI owners...

Ive got these on my WRX with SPT short throw linkage:

-TiC shifter pivot bushings
-KB front & rear shifter stay bushings
-TiC rear diff mount bushings
-TiC pink transmission crossmember bushings
-group-N transmission mount
-and a cool shift knob

and the car feels wonderful! Especially at the track days it feels super stiff and responsive. No more slushing around and I dont miss shifts even at the HPDE high-speed track days

Hey guys. I got a question for you, and rather then making a new thread I thought I'd post it here. I just installed the TiC SSS, with kartboy bushings and all that good stuff. It doesn't seem like I got the same results as you guys did. Here's a few questions that I had.

Shifting from gear to gear takes more effort then stock, even with the pivot joint loosened.

There's a winding noise when I'm in gear, and when I come to a stop in gear, it's can get loud. (I only hear it with my windows up, but it sounds kinda like a supercharger sounds when it winds up)

There's a clicking noise when I shift into gear. It's not super loud, but it's noticable.

After the install and a test run around the neighborhood, I looked under the car but didn't notice anything that would be rubbing. The reverse cable along with the o2 sensor is zip tied away from the driveshaft, so I don't know where that noise is coming from.

I have a hard time explaining things through text so sorry if it's a little long and confusing lol.
