sti's usually dont throw a misfire code with a light flywheel unless you have an issue with your management or just something wrong with your motor

I was told that even a lightweight pulley can throw codes or make erratic issues, esp at low RPMs.

Any truth?

I thought that mine was causing a misfire, but come to find out it was just a bad injector. From what I've read sti's don't have problems with lighter flywheels.

I put a hundred plus miles on my STI with the new clutch/ light weight fly wheel set up today. I stalled the car on the first try, not so much because of the fly wheel but because the clutch pedal engages an inch off the floor! The new clutch is pretty grabby . The car pulls much harder than it used to with the stock weight flywheel . I.m very happy with the end result.

I just had my motor out last week and was gonna put an ACT clutch in at the same time. I didnt cause the stock clutch was still over 50% and I only roadrace, no launches for me, so I saved the $.

My tuner did suggest the ACT clutch if I did one and he said that its a little stiffer but otherwise the same as stock. I think he was intending to reuse my stock pressure plate so if yours is lighter, that's prob what is making the most difficulty driving it.

As for your diff engagement point, I wonder if flushing the clutch fluid would help with that?

On the other hand, the car pulls noticably harder in the lower gears.
I had an ACT clutch and gruppe-s flywheel installed last thursday and I feel like I have lost some torque in the car.. Does anyone else feel this way? I might get up to 100 mph faster than I used to, but I jsut don't feel the pull of the stg 2 I felt before? Is it all in my head? BTW.. the chatter and whine is kinda annoying... I almost wish I had resurfaced the stock one..

My STI never threw a misfire code with a lightweight flywheel (ACT Prolite).

it is not in your head. it is the predictable effect of losing the rotational mass of the oem fw.

From my understanding, putting a lighter flywheel on throws off the balance of your rotating mass and lessens the life of the engine. Has anyone else heard of that?

only if Helen Keller made the aftermarket flywheel - the ACT ones are balanced even better than the stock one is
