Default Another TIC SSS Satisfied Customer

Hey Fellas,

Installed the TIC SSS this morning in 3 hours and I am no mechanic. I did the bolt removal instead of the pin and I think it was pretty easy. The tip of lowering the jack supporting the tranny and let the tranny hang helped a bunch.
A TIP: I did notice when I was pushing on the tranny I was actually pushing it up instead of sideways which was reducing my clearance. When I pushed it straight sideways and wiggled the bolt came right out.

MAN THE SHIFT IS PRETTY STIFF,(hopefully I didn't tighten everything to tight LOLOLOL) IT IS AWESOME BUT WILL TAKE A BIT TO GET USE TO!!!

ONE OF THE BEST MODS I HAVE DONE, MORE TIC WILL BE GOING ON THE STI!!!

Michael

the kartboy/tic shifter complete with all the bushings is one of the best bang for the buck mods you can do. if you get a chance to try the throws in someone elses car you will have to have it.

i also installed this today, and also found that dropping the tranny down a lil bit and using a pry bar to push the tranny to the side was pretty easy, unfortunately i ordered the wrong bushings for the u-joint so i will have to take it out again to do those.. but so far i like it alot.... great mod for the money

bushings and short shifter is nice! only problem i have is the rattle i get while the gear is in reverse. I guess there's no way around this since the reverse lockout now has slack

Take the lockout cable out and wrap it in electrical tape or heat shrink.

Did this last weekend with the Cobb DA shifter, and the combination is awesome.

am I the only one that isn't completely satisfied with the SSS? I find it way too hard to complete a shift.. It takes so much force to shift I feel like I'm manhandling the shifter... Any help?

Feels much crisper but about same effort as stock for me. You might compare with a local who has it, it shouldn't be that hard.

Pivot bushing. The torque on that one is a MAX of 8.3 lbs. MANY MANY people have found that you have to do it by feel. If it is too tight it will be difficult to shift.

Additionally - be sure to use some kind of grease on the bushing faces.
