Default The filter under the pan (6mt)

So today I am due for my tranny\rear diff services. I do them myself and decided to remove the pan on the bottom of the 6mt to see if the "rumors" and stories of the second filter are true.

Well they are, kind of, its not a filter but a magnet.

Here are the pictures, this filter has not been cleaned for 69,700 miles. I photoed it before I cleaned it. I dont have a lot of room to work with so I took these at odd angles with my Nikon D40.

If you want the high-quality images PM me your e-mail addy and i'll send them.

Update: the amount of metal shavings attached to this magnet were unimaginable.

Removal of this pan just became standard for me at EVERY change.

The magnet removes from the bottom of the transmission with a slight tug.

You should throw on a filtermag transmission magnet too. I run one and a filtermag magnet on my oil filters.

From the looks of the shavings and color of the oil as well as oxidation on the bolts, I'll guess 69,700 for $1.

QuicksilverSTi - Its amazing how you could read into the metal shavings that well. Amazing. Simply amazing.

Nah, I would guess that it is more likely between 69,699 and 69,701 or there abouts, give or take, plus or minus, ish.....

I bought this filter a few thousand miles ago but never changed it. It has a long tube coming off it and just looking at the diagrams in the service manual it looks tricky to install. Have you replaced the filter, has anyone else replaced it?
