Gami
I know we spoke a bunch of times about your problem but this absolutely amazes me. You need to put the smack down on them they are denying it not because they think you caused it but because they can't figure out what the problem is so they want to try that diff next and stick you with the bill. Don't let this happen to you the oil you used was gl-5 and only in there for what a couple days?

Thanks alot guys for the replies and info.

Here the deal.
My Subaru tech that is always there to do my paper work when going in to get service for my car is a pretty cool guy.
When I went to change my fluid to Amsoil, I had to go to the dealership to get it done. My apartment complex does not let you do any car work of any sort on the property or you will get fined and I live right in front the management office so they can see my car if I do any work on it.

Anyways The day I change the fluid to Amsoil they asked me if I wanted to use the OEM fluid and I said no I have my own fluid. They said okay no problem but let me warn you that their has been problems with other STi's that have change their fluid that ended up with future issues.
For instance I have a friend who has an 04 STi and put Redline fluid in the rear diff and tranny and it started binding and grinding after the fluid was replaced.
The dealership ended up changing the tranny and rear diff (the first STi on the east cost to ever get a tranny replaced due to mechanical failure from the fluid).
So they informed me about the possible problems that might occur after changing the fluid. They even mentioned that if there is any problems that we can put in the Subaru OEM fluid back in but I would have to pay for the service.
One week went by with the Amsoil and I started to get the binding noise. I went in the very next week to my dealership and changed out the fluid to the OEM fluid. They put the 90LSD fluid in the metal 1 liter can in the rear and 75-90 int the front.
After driving a week with the OEM fluid I still was getting the binding.
I went back to the service department and told them the problem and they said will try to fix the problem leave the car here for the weekend and Monday we will get started on your car.
After three days they mentioned to me that they replaced the center diff because that's what the Subaru Phone tech had told them to replace. I asked why was a Subaru phone tech involved and they said that the mechanic could not figure out why after the fluid change that it would need a center diff but the Phone tech guy said replace anyways its under warrenty. At this time the Subaru Phone tech has not seen the car.
Then the problem was still there. SO the Subaru dealership tech calls back up the phone tech and says the problem is still there. The Phone tech says I'll be there the next day to check the car.
When the Subaru Phone tech came in he noticed that the car was lowered and another Subaru Mechanic their at the dealership who didn't work on my car said to the phone tech that my car was modded and that the owner (me) requested to put in Amsoil fluid. What an asshole.
So that's what gave it away when the mechanic said I failed to use the OEM fluid.
Then the Phone tech said to replace the sensor for the tranny and the DCCD sensor and see if it fixes the problem. After another day worth of work the problem was still there.
HE then came back to the dealership and said its my slotted crosses drill rotors and the springs that changed the Symmetry of the rear of the car and that whats causing the clunk/binding. Which we all know is BS.
So he said hes not going to cover the car under warranty.
So my original Subaru Rep says to me, Pete, here's the problem. We know it's the rear diff that needs to be replaced and this is how much it's going to cost but it's not under warranty because the Phone rep does not want to cover it because of the modifications done to the car and you requested that Amsoil be put in the car.
Now the Original Subaru Rep said here's how we can put it under warranty.
You can take the car now and just when ever you drive it I can press the diff button and slide the DCCD controller all the way to the last green setting when driving slow in the parking areas to not get the binding. He siad do this for a month or two and come back to us and will write up that the rear diff is whining and we will replace it under your warranty.
So in the mean time what do you guys suggest. Should I try a different fluid?

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't trust them.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO USE SUBARU'S FLUID. Go to the warranty sticky, print out the laws, read them and then bring them in to the dealer. A CV joint negates the "angle" idea. The fluid was GL-5, so there's no problem there.

Hmmm I have had castrol dino in my rear diff and tranny for months with no issue ...maybe i should switch to subie lsd oil for rear diff? I already have the oil but didn't see a need for it yet.

I always keep my DCCD in auto ...is this why i haven't noticed any issues?

I gotta question guys! Please help or put in your input.

If the Subaru phone rep says to the dealership it's the rear diff but to me I hear and feel the noises come from the center of the car (which is right under me and the shifter) and so does the mechanic then wouldn't the rear if defective make the noises and jerking from the rear of the car?
It' makes no sence to me if the changed the center diff and fluid.

The only way the car stops the bucking sensation and the binding is when I put the DCCD to the last green arrow on the bottom of the dash. What does this indicate?

Could it still be the fluid in the Transmission because I changed the rear diff fluid to Amsoil SVG 70-90w and I have the Subaru LSD 90 fluid in a container If I need to go back to it.
What can cause this feeling like the the differential is not on Auto?
