| Amateur STI Driver | Ok, I remember seeing somewhere that there is a RWD conversion for the WRX/STi. Just wondering if anyone could give me a link or info. I know a lot of people might find this offensive, but too bad. I'm not certain I want to do it anyway, just getting the info. Unless someone wants to buy my STi. Needs to be re-financed, but only 5500 miles. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad. |

If you just wanted something RWD with lots of power, you had a lot cheaper options available than buying a 30 grand car and then paying even more money to ruin it. You might find this offensive, but too bad - this is a totally idiotic thing to do. | |

| Amateur STI Driver | Well, I bought the car because of it's all around performance and looks. But to be perfectly honest, it's already deviated from the true STi available throughout the rest of the world. Why does it matter? Well the US STi is a bastard child. Yes it's fun on the track, but the 300 isn't quite enough anymore. Ever been beat by an SRT-4? How about RSX-S with a turbo? The point is the AWD is killing the car for speed, which is what it gets used for most often. I have suffered because of the complete lack of top end, even with 2# extra boost. How many times have I road raced, or needed the AWD? Maybe 3 times. How much do I use the power on the street strip or highway? A hell of a lot more. Why not get a Mustang or SRT-4? Because I don't like how they look nor did I wish to buy an American auto. You forget that most race cars are forced to use RWD and fair fine, if not better on the slalom. I was planing on going big HP anyway, which will basically require the complete replacement of the internals, clutch, drivetshafts, etc. so why not just go RWD and eliminate the need for costly DCCD and front differential replacement? Or better yet, someone else buy it and save it from me and let me get another Supra. |

Sounds like you just don't get the whole concept, or you don't appreciate the car anyway if you are talking about getting another Supra. I won't knock you for that, as the Supra is an excellent car. If AWD is of no benefit to you, than owning a Subaru is ridiculous. They make every car AWD now because that's what they do best. Sell it. But more importantly, get the **** out of my way when it rains or snows. |

IWSTI Addict since: Nov 2003 Trader Rating: (2) | Oh, forgot to answer the original question: I don't believe that there is a conversion for the STi available that I have ever seen. I know there is a kit available for the 5-speed, but I don't believe it will work in the 6-speed. |

| Grassroots STI Racer | ahh yeah the Purpose built Drag Car funny I never saw a funny car body that looks like a Subaru, they race those on gravel.... Hence the need for AWD, we are driving a Replica of a Rally Car, not a Drag Car. |
