IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2007  |  4k launch clutch dump Well my car is an 07 sti and launched it for the first time. I launch at about 4k and dumped the clutch. When I get home, I saw a video of an STi doing a 6k launch and dumped the clutch and I think the drivetrain was badly damaged. I'm a bit worried now even though I didnt launch as high as him. Do you guys think that my car will be fine or should I get it inspected. Any opinions would be appreciated. |

IWSTI Addict since: Apr 2007 | Re: 4k launch clutch dump I have seen that video on youtube..the guy does launches his car about ten times straight and then at the end his rear axel broke...not sure exactly what rpm he was launching at all the time, but I launch at 4200-5000 and when I ready i feather the cluth a bit and when it grips i dump it. our 07 stis can take a little beating and like it. |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2005 | Re: 4k launch clutch dump Maybe you shouldn't dump the clutch, then. Try using the search function and reading the various articles on the correct way to launch. If you can't afford to fix it, don't abuse the damn thing. |
