Diff in pain

im not sure what the specifics are when you put the car in lock mode but whenever i do i slow down and the car almost stalls and it wont go foward or reverse and if i try to do so it makes a horrible metal to metal sound. Even when i am in auto i will set off and i will hear a metal to metal sound coming from my diff or transfer case (not sure). Im still under warranty for a bit more. Just wanted imput. You guys have any ideas?
