Default "Scottys ****tail" recommended for 04 Sti 6 Spd???

Hey, im planning to do a transmission flush for my 2004 sti 6 spd manual transmission.. I read alot of things about "Scottys ****tail" which consists of 1qt redline lightweight shock proof
1qt penzoil synchromesh
2 qt castrol hypoxy 80w-90
I was just wondering to see if anyone used this combo for their 6 spd transmissions and I believe sti transmission uses 5.3 quarts all together? So would i use 3 qts of castrol hypoxy 80w-90 instead of 2 qts??
Thanks for the help in advance..

I believe the going trans fluid recommendation for the 6mt is Motul Gear 300 as per Clint from TiC.

The grind is something many experience, Clint found that initially the grind went away, but eventually came back but not as bad.

you're fine trying the co<filter>cktail.

alternatively, you could use Motul Gear 300 75-90 in place of the Catrol.

Acutally I think the STi transmission is 4.3 quarts.

I using Uncle Scotty's ****tail....or a version of it. Just did it this past weekend...so time will tell how well it will work in a few thousand miles. I was using Valvoline 75w90 dino, which was horrible IMO. The shifter felt really notchy with the dino oil, which is now gone. Shifting into 5th with no more 5th gear grind, I am wondering how long this will last.

Instead of the 80w90 I am using a synthetic blend 75w90.

Haha.. I wouldn't try any ****tail Unclescotty from nasioc recommends lol...that guy is a a joke!

He is the biggest AZZhat on Nasioc and has caused a decline in site visits lol....I'm just glad that tool doesen't troll these forums woot!

I didn't want synchro issues so i never used synthetic...I been using castrol dino and it works great! smooth shifts and no noisy synchros!

Same here, went with synthetic and had more grinds. Back to straight castrol dino and shifts perfect, no grinding. No need for any crazy mixtures of stuff here...

I run Motul in my gearbox, have for 100,000kms. No grinding, no synchro issues, smooth as butter in the extreme(-40C) cold and still on the original clutch. I'm not a fan of mixing lubricants in the garage to put into such an expensive gearbox. I believe the engineers that formulate and test the lubricants are way smarter than I am.
