Well, I've had my STi for five days now and I'm experiencing a problem with the reverse lockout. When I pull the ring up, it stays up instead of returning to the lower position like it did when I left the dealership. I have to physically push the ring back down. Has anyone else had this problem? I'll take it in to the dealer when I get back home Friday, but I thought it might be a common, simple fix.

The only thing that I can think caused it is that I removed the shift knob to test fit the Kartboy knob off my WRX. I also had the center console up when I installed the stereo from the Rex. But I really don't see how either of those actions could have affected the operation of the ring.

so if you put the stock knob does that alleviate the problem? If yes then there maybe some compatability problem. Possibly shoot an email to Kartboy to verify. I did a quick search and I have not seen it install on an STi.

cheers

Nick

I just test fitted the Kartboy on there to see if it fit or not. I put the stock knob right back on. The problem started some time after that.

sounds like you got something (dirt, plastic shaving etc...) stuck between the shifter and the lockout ring. try compressed air to blow it out, do this from the bottom of the ring. it only takes a minute which, is faster than the dealer.

Default help me decide - Prodrive or ScoobySport

The same thing happened to me when I tried to see if a Prodrive shift knob would fit. I am just going to take it back to the dealer and tell them I dont know what happened. (maybe it will work)

Thanks. Is it okay to undo the allen set screw to get in there and look? I don't want to make things worse.
