2007 tranny whine/howl/humming question

Any other 07's making a faint humming noise around 78-80 mph? From the searches I have done this appears to be normal...? It does it on the accel and deccel between those mph's whether I'm in 4th, 5th, or 6th gear...tire pressure is equal on both sides...1000 miles on the car...I just thought I'd throw it out there for other 07'ers to comment or 04-06'ers too

i have a 04 and it does the same thing i have not yet figured it out.

My '05 tranny makes noise in 1st and 2rd mostly on deceleration but 6th has a good whine on the highway too. I think these trannies are just loud.

The trannys tend to be loud, mine makes a nice whine every so often as well on my 2005. I don't think it's much to worry about.

The reason why it probably whines ( don;t take why word for it) is because the tranny gear are almost straight cut. This would explain why they are basicaly granade proof. Think about it how many people have you heard about grenading their STI tranny even with big turbos? how many evo owners have you hard grnading their tranny's

What tires do you have?
I switched from the RE070's and the noise is gone. (if we're talking about the same noise)

Yeah, mine is really loud in 1st or 2nd on decel, but in 6th, I can definately hear a whine too...

could be one or all of a few things...

tread noise (which sounds suspiciously like tranny howl)
tranny noise (which is common but should NOT sound like a "reverse" whine)
diff noise (which is also common)
