IWSTI Addict since: May 2006 Trader Rating: (3) | I have a friend that asked me whether the '07 transmission with its longer 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears could be swapped into an '05 STi. I didn't have an answer for him, but I thought maybe this group might? Is this a direct plug and play swap? Thanks! Gary This ad is not endorsed by this member. But nowhere in that thread did I find any discussion of whether or not the actual transmissions could be swapped. There a very short discussion of swapping gear sets. But no discussion of switching the whole unit. Gary |

EDIT: They are VERY expensive from the factory though, either buy a gearset or buy a wrecked car trans. Also, seeing as the 05 is a 35/65 center diff gearing and the 06+ is 41/59 you may need 07 gears for your rear diff as it would change your final drive ratio. | |

IWSTI Addict since: Dec 2004 Trader Rating: (7) | if you were to do it, you'd want to do the full driveline (tranny and rear diff). unless you're willing to open up the 6 speed  which requires alot of work to get back together btw. |
