Now i have seen videos of STi's doing donuts like crazy, best donuts i have seen. But can the STi just sit and light up the tires?? now i know your thinking what a dumb F*** the car is AWD.. yes i know that but im still curious if you throw on the DCCD to 35 front 65 rear if it would get them to spin better.. and having it on this setting, when you put the petal to the floor does the back end get loose on you?? I have seen videos of the car launching and that also. Just wondering if there is any other videos out there that show other stuff.Cause i am in the process of deciding on what i want to get in about a month, either a 04 cobra or the STi and i am leaning towards the STi, due to living in chicago area and the winters are not that great here. If you have any comments on this that would be great thanks a head of time!
Robert

I think you might get some wheel spin on dry pavement but with four tires, you will get traction fairly quickly. That assumes you dump the clutch at 5,000.

I have a question, why would you want to sit still and spin the tires?

Not possible. You could get a little spin, but as stated above, you'll just take off.

I think if burnouts are what float your boat, AWD is not going to do it for you. You will however learn to revel in 4-wheel smokey power slides.

mmmmm power slide

I dont see any reason as to why you cant do this.. sure its AWD.. but its also read wheel.. ohh.. and front wheel... ohhhhh wait.... 35/65 and 65/35! MY GOD! it does it all

I would think its probably more a function of what you have for tires and as mentioned above the RPMs...
go take it for a test drive and give it a try... im sure the dealer wont mind

Default Pictures of my TurboXS FMIC on my STi

Computer disconnects rear wheels when e-brake is pulled...so it'd be like a FWD burnout, if you can manage that.

RN, I don't know if that would hurt the center diff, because the computer is basically just throwing the DCCD in OPEN. If the center diff is just like a normal diff mounted in the middle of the axles, then it would just be like a one wheel burnout on an open Diff, but if it is something different, I could see some serious problems with just pulling the E-Brake.

Just telling what it'll do. Pull e-brake, fronts will spin and rears won't. It could damage something but it WILL result in wheelspin. Personally, I wouldn't do it.

Easy dry too...no need to use the handbrake. Cut wheels, slowly get on gas, and when you punch it, rear end will break loose.

It's a lower speed thing on the stock suspension since power delivery is causing the break in traction, but as speed increases, the balance of the suspension takes over and 'dumbs things down' for the masses. It will do it in 1st gear very easily though.
