Default Information on Bushing for 05 STi

I am looking at getting some of the Turnin Concepts and KartBoy bushing for 05 STi. I am looking at the shifter bushing and the Klunk Killer bushings (comfort). I am also looking at the Whiteline steering rack bushings. However, I want to know which units will cause Noise and Vibration. I only want to change out parts that will still keep the car as close to stock as possible sound wise. Any feed back will be appreciated.

The shifter bushings do make the trans a little louder but there is no difference in the harshness of the ride, but you do get AMAZING shifts. I recommend doing the KartBoy front and rear stay bushings, and TICs pivot and shift linkage bushings. That will take care of your entire shifter, and it's the best mod I've ever done!!!

As far as I know, the Klunk Killer bushings will create a harsher ride due to the increased stiffness of the bushing. I don't have them on mine yet, so don't take my word for it on those, but I'm sure someone who has them will chime in.

Default All Of Them

An increase in hardness will transmit more noise and vibration.

+1 but the entire shifter bushing upgrade from TiC is VERY worth it. My favorite upgrade to this point.

The ALK will cause an increase in NVH but some say its minimal, especially for the gain.

If you have an 05, do you really need the steering rack bushings? I heard they were not needed on an 05, but I could be wrong.

i installed my tic super shifter kit and though the shifts are crip and to the point, it generates louder tranny whine with more vibration throughout the shifter thus making rattles in certain rpm

I have them on my05. they're not "needed" like they are on an 04, but they are a definite improvement. In no way trying to be an elitist but some might not be able to appreciate them... they're a pita to install. the work vs reward may not be enough.

The Klunk Killer transmits more NVH, but nothing that is louder than the gas pedal. I've had mine on for months now and don't even notice it anymore.

You should not be getting rattling. I know this sounds dumb but check the shifter pattern on your knob. We've been getting a number of reports from 06+ guys saying that it's loose, and makes noise.

the noise & vibration are minimal....if you really want to reduce the NVH...get different tires...after i switched to my winter all-season Avons...most of that went away. Just do it...you'll get used to the NVH in time. These cars arent Audis, and rightfully they shouldnt be. If it does bother you, just turn up the radio! The improved feedback you get from your car will be worth it!
