Mine is in 6th gear about to redline at around 150. I would say its top speed is about 155 without a fuel cutoff.

Like I said before, I hear there is some kind of 50% throttle cutoff that begins around 6500 rpms. If that is true, and that was removed, the car would make 155 much easier and if it wasnt about to redline I would say it may be capable of 175.

Oh yea, I think 6th gear is identical in like 05's - 07's.

Are the final drive and the diff ratios the same as well?
So 05's and 07's have the same unrestricted top speed?

Wnen i gotmy 06' up to 150+ the car may have gone a bit faster ( i think the rev limiter kicked in at 155/157) but there was obviously so much drag on the car at that point that i dont think a subaru will ever see 170 without some better aerodynamics and the loss of the uber cool big sti wing.

Did you read this off the speedo or GPS? Cause the STI is limited to about 147 MPH. At that speed the speedo will read about 155mph.

You have an 06 and you say you redlined 6th but you did not mention at what mph your were at.

Here's some gearing charts a friend and I made for all the USDM models.

NOTE: The chart on the last page has slightly higher numbers. He probably used a larger diameter for the tire. According to TireRack's site, the stock Potenza RE070 turns 837 revolutions per mile. I used that figure for all my calculations.

I can make charts for different tire sizes/gear ratios if anyone wants them.

Well it looks like the top speed is the same. All years must have the same final drive and 6th gear.

Also, top speed would be 176.25mph if the reflash allowed 100% throttle all the way to fuel cut. (7250RPM stock)

I was running meth/water so I'm sure that helped egt. The speed was over 160 by about a 1/2 an inch there ya go.
