Man that chart is great! Are their aftermarket final drives out their that would allow STi's to stay in 4th gear through the quarter mile?

07's gears will allow you to stay in 4th through the 1/4 mile.

Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to change just the final drive vs all the gears?

I realize that the final drive is the same through all the MY STi's, but what about putting in a WRX final drive?

The diffs arent the same, if they even fit IDK if they would hold up to the same abuse.

Is there some major difficulty in going 170 in a Sti? Mine is bone stock and here in Colorado(a bit over a mile high, = 18% loss in HP) I easily get to 158mph...of which i think i am only drag limited at, sine my spoiler is shaking like its gonna fly off, and the hood scoop is pulling the hood a full inch up off the car. :P

When you get up there in speed it takes 2-4x the horsepower needed at slower speeds to push the STi's non-aerodynamic body through the air. It isn't a linear thing.

This is bringing back an old thread but a I was wondering what the top speed is for the new 07 gears. With the longer gears does the top speed move up as well?

They say the top speed is 155. Most ppl say stock the 07 has a limiter at 149 or 147 but I tested that myself within the past week and my limiter kicks in at 152. At that point, Im in 6th getting close to redline. It seems like its definitely not power or drag limited but rather redline or cutoff limited. Ive also heard there is like a 50% reduction in throttle or something when you near redline.

BTW, I went 152 through a school zone, in front of a church, cross the street from a nursing home, during rush hour and a marathon. Needless to say, I won the marathon.

Good for you! I had hoped subaru would place well in that marathon :P

Wnen i gotmy 06' up to 150+ the car may have gone a bit faster ( i think the rev limiter kicked in at 155/157) but there was obviously so much drag on the car at that point that i dont think a subaru will ever see 170 without some better aerodynamics and the loss of the uber cool big sti wing.

Well earlier in this thread people said that the MY05 STi will go 176 with the speed limiter removed and several said that they did achieve this. (with power modifications) So does anyone know what the new 07 STi with different gearing and a removed speed limiter will top out at?
