I have been using Motul 300 for 30K miles. 50K on the tranny total. Great stuff. Sometimes it is slow to shift into 6th while warming up, but it did that with the stock fluid too. Clint, if you descide to sell Motul, I'd gladly buy some from you.

I've been using Motul Gear 300 for ~8000 miles. No issues. Works great.

Clint, if you can, please explain how *you* removed the pan on the tranny. That thing (at least to me) seems like it is installed with SuperGlue. I gave it a tiny try when I swapped my fluid at 15K but it seemed too glued on and I didn't want to damage the mating surface with a screwdriver or putty knife. However, I am resigned to do this when I swap the fluid again at 30K (only 7K more miles). I know I can get it off - that isn't the issue. I want to know how *you* got it off because I don't want to use the screwdriver/putty knife if there is a better way. Also, I am a little worried about cracking the pan by prying on it that hard.

I was wondering when this question was going to come up. I used a razor blade. find the seam between the two at a corner. At the corner tap the razor blade in using a small hammer. Once it's half way in grab the razor and pull down.

Is there a filter that needs to be changed when you remove the tranny pan or is it a filter element that you can clean? Is there a sealing material that you need to apply when putting the pan back on or is there a gasket, if so is liquid gasket ok or is there a higher temp adhesive that is specified to be used. Oops i guess i should read....is RTV what you used? What are the torque specs for the bolts?

torque spec is really low on those - 4.7lbs. RTV is what is used.

Holy smokes, that stuff is expensive. I wasn't planning on $100 to change the transmission fluid. But I guess if it's the best...

Edit: Phew, found a place cheaper. First place wanted $23.50/liter. Youch.

Good read, I have already done 2 flushes myself and the dealer did my last one (all by 16k miles!!! dont ask, long story)... and they put 75w80 valvoline in it... they overfilled it pretty bad and the trans SUCKS big time in the cold... until its warm its horrible to shift...

I am probably going to flush it out for something better... maybe this motul 300 stuff or proper valvoline (75w90), OR that "Subaru Extra-S"

Dont worry, my rear diff has the good subaru LSD stuff.
