Do not turn it to full lock. The pump does not like that at all. Try setting the center diff to full open, and see if the binding still happens. This ad is not endorsed by this member. Please register or login to hide this ad.

IWSTI Addict since: Jul 2005 Trader Rating: (0) | I just changed my fluid this saturday for the 4th time and I think I might give Motul 300 a try only to the tranny not the rear diff, to see if anything works. Since i gotten my rear diff replaced I dont want to take out the stock fluid just yet. I called TIC last week and they had mentioned that STi's tends to make this noise, but before my car had gotten the fluid changed 4 months ago my car never did the Clunking/jerking noise before as if the diff was in lock mode (well, not this bad anyways). It's really weird. Going around corners about 1-5mph in a parking-lot between cars is becoming very annoying just to park my car. My cars clunking/grinding/jerking/binding/rubbing is really very audible. It's becoming a major concern to me. So far I have gotten my center diff w/ sensors, rear diff, fluids and more replaced and the noise is still there. My dealership is getting tired of replacing stuff in my car. So I'm trying to take this into my own hands and call places that work with STI's diff's to see if they might be familiar with this problem. Anyone with solutions or ideas please w/b. |

Gear300 is not for the rear diff. For that we recommend motul's pa90.

IWSTI Addict since: Feb 2006 Trader Rating: (15) | I have been using the Amsoil Severe Gear 75w90 for about 5 months without any issues. Shifts are smooth as butter. I know Chris05STi put his in at the same time and has some minor grinding...Just seems to be car specific. |

IWSTI Addict since: May 2007 Trader Rating: (0) | My tranny is clunky shifting when it is cold. I switched to Motul 75W90 about 500 miles ago (from Valvoline 75W90 dino). No improvement. Sigh. I was pretty hopeful, based on other users' good experiences. Motul is about 3x more expensive than the Valvoline dino. Anyway, I've got some nice fresh fluid there. 70K miles / 2004. |

| STI Driver | I had a perf. shop put redline in my tranny at 10K miles, and man what a difference-- I love redline. (have it in my front diff too) My shifting is so smooth, even when it's cold! |

I do know that we've had some customers running other rear diff fluids they were not happy with who switched to pa90 and were much happier. I would have been willing to play around with more fluid combos back there, but I don't have a spare R180 sitting around so I've been more cautious on that one.
