Default Mis-Shift and Boom! (WRX 5spd related)

I was racing my buddy from a dig and was fine through gears 1-2-3...but then when i was trying to go to 4th, i did it way to fast and went to 2nd gear...and BOOM! makes you want to cry when you hear little chunks of metal being thrown around in your tranny like its in a dryer. Dealer wont warrany it, but they will give me a goodwill warranty and split the bill ($1,500) with me 50/50 since i have low miles. Is there anything i can do?

If its the engine then your screen name might be appropriate (sorry I had to).

Sucks to hear, hope everything works out in the end.

The teeth were sheared off? Wow! When you mis-shifted, did you "force" it into the gear? If you destroyed the teeth that bad, it sounds force fed and pushed through.

You are lucky.

Go to Vegas or Atlantic City right now before it wears off.

Seriously.

I would be jumping for joy in the streets if the dealer was going to help out with a mistake like that. Especially since misshifting usually results in your engine going boom, not the tranny.
