Default shift prob or do i suck

so i bought my sti 2 weeks ago, new 06. i noticed when shifting fast or hard from 2-3,3-4 there is a weird clicking sound. even if i sit still and shift fast pushing medium (hardness) it makes the sound. its easier when its accelerating. so is there something wrong with it? is it defective? or do i blow at driving this car?

can you further describe the click? a "clicking sound" is pretty vague. How loud, how does it sound, where's it coming from, etc... all the details you can please

k. think of a really light, higher pitched clunk. so its thicker than say a match breaking, like a little deeper sounding than a nail clipper. it sounds like it comes from right below the shift boot. at first i thought i was hitting the shifter itself on the silver trim but what it seems like is almost if i had a gated shifter and hit the shift lever on the gate. like im catching the shift lever on a corner of metal or something.

Did your car come with a factory short shifter? Mine has one and yes you could call it a click when I shift gears.

yeah doesn't sound to be a problem - but if you're worried, have the dealer check it out.

That noise seems to be more apparent when its cold. Its just our transaxle.
