Default Twin disk noise, any sound clips?

Looking to get a Exedy twin disk to go with new mods but am interested in hearing how loud the rattling is.My guess is its like a Ducati clutch right?

I'll tell you my tilton twin disk squeeks and rattles. My wife won't drive the STI since its takes some skill to use. It is not very loud, but loud enough where people think something is wrong with your transmission.

I may be taking out my twin and putting a heavy duty single so that my wife will drive the car again...

MAKE sure the installer takes the bleeder out of the clutch slave. if not you will smoke the clutch!

i wouldnt get an exedy twin disc. I owned one for a year, till it started slipping. they are very noisy, but not nearly as noisy as my triple disc exedy. what are your mods? I'd highly recomend an act 6 puck unsprung or heavy duty street disc depending on your mods. I've driven both, and both are better driving than the exedy twin, not to mention significantly cheaper, and quiet.

Power will be coming from a Element GT49 turbo & all supporting mods.Car will not be used for drag racing but some track days & some street use.I just cant get myself to buy a unsprung clutch let alone a ACT.Would rather deal with noise than killing the drivetrain.

BTW I will be the installer & do remember seeing a PDF file about the bleeder.

huh? an unsprung act isnt going to hurt your drivetrain. again, I have driven sti's with act clutches and they are good clutches. there might have been some random issues in the past, but they definitely do the job, especially for a 49 trim turbo. the act 6 puck unsprung clutch drives very friendly, dont know why people are so scared of them. I know 2 people making 500whp+ and drag their cars religiously without any problems using the act 6 puck unsprung.

exedy twin disc clutch = teh suck. I know, I've had one. good luck.

i've actually had the complete opposite. i've had 4 ACT clutches and they all sucked IMHO. installed a twin in a customers car and a hyper single in my FXT Sti swap and loved them. they are a little tricky to get the hang of. the ACT on the other hand. two of them grenaded the PP( never a big fan of sky high PP's on a stock disk) the other one blew the disk.

YMMV

my exedy twin was pretty harsh, not to mention very noisy (which didnt bother me). My exedy triple disc is actually smoother to drive than the twin, but it's twice as loud as the twin. My twin disc would stick when it got hot, and my shifter wouldnt go into gear unless the car was turned off or the car was completely cooled down. I managed 8k on it before it started slipping. Not a very good deal for $1600, I would have rather installed 2 act's and still saved $600. this is just my opinion though.

Thanks guys on the input. What about the unsprung hub as far as drivability? Seems like that would suck.

^ common misconception imo. the 6 puck unsprung drives nicer than my exedy twin/triple. a good friend of mine (rs drifter) has an act 6 puck unsprung on a stg 2 sti, send him a pm on nasioc and get his unbiased opinion.
