Default 06 sti concern

I just joined the subaru family, i purchased a 2006 sti, it was used with 8000 miles. Everything seems to be in place, but i have a few concerns. The clutch is a bit long, meaning for the car to begin moving i have to let it go almost completely. Another question that i have is when im going in any gear lets say third, at about 3000rpm and decide to step on it the revs go up to about 6000rpm but the car doesnt really speed up as i expected it, instead the revs start going down again and then the car speeds up, once i stop it smells like burned rubber, is this normal?? i used to drive a vw manual and when i steped on it it sped up righ away. I'm also going to take it to the dealer to get all fluids checked and make sure everything is fine, but is there anything i should really be concerned about specifically

Dead clutch, take it to the dealer for a new one before it gets any more miles on it and they try to blame it on you.

Yup, sounds like someone cooked the clutch. I would stick the dealer for the full cost, and I would insist on a NEW flywheel, pressure plate, and throwout bearing at the same time. If the clutch was abused that badly those items are likely to have experienced unusually high stress as well.
