Thumbs up 04 sti withe Cobb SS ,WOW!!!

Well first off I didnt mind the way stock unit felt,so I was a bit reluctant to give the Cobb unit a try.Needless to say I got on for a good deal and installed it.Install was a pita since the reverse lockout cable wouldnt seat into the shift lever to allow the cable to reach the slot in the upper lever. So Cobb sent me a new one, same issue,so I drilled it out with a 5/16 bit and viola it fit together.Whine it was down I also decided to change the front and rear shifter bushings to the Jartboy ones. All this was while I was waiting for my new coilovers(Ohlins Sportlines).Well I got the Ohlins yesterday amd installed them today and man does the shifter feel awesome!!! Now Ill have to finish setting up the suspension, alignment and ride heights.Unfortunately I have the winter tires on the car ,so Ill have to wait till the spring(track day) to really test the coilovers.

Do you have any pictures or could you take any? I want to see how far down the shifter can go from stock and I haven't managed to find any yet. I am seriously interested in this mod because everybody has awesome things to say about it. Enjoy your new mods!

If you make the throws really short you can manage about a 1" drop in the location of the shift knob. I have my cobb ss set on close to the shortest throws with the knob as low as it can go.

just remember the lower the shifter is,the further it is from the steering wheel, the further your hand has to travel, the longer its off the wheel

for performance driving the nore time you have 2 hands on the whel the better andd safer,I lowered my seating position(installed Sparco Monzas) and tilted the steering wheel down and then lowered the shifter, its really the throws and new bushings that give the benefit

wouldn't the shift knob be closer to the steering wheel in 5th and 6th gear (reverse too, i guess)? i haven't taken geometry in a while, but it seems so.... also, what's the point? we're talking about a matter of possibly a few 1/10ths of an inch further from the wheel (once again, geometry).

how high do you have the ss set (it's adjustable, right?)? do you have an armrest extension, and if so how tall are you and is it getting in the way?

and, um, let us know about the ohlins please.
